In Nierstein, in the Rheinhessen area, the family winery Louis Guntrum has been exporting wines for more than 150 years. Today, 11 generations after the first recording of their winery in 1648, they hold about 11 hectares of land with sites on Pettenthal, Oelberg, and Hipping north of Nierstein and Sackträger, Kreuz, and Herrenberg by Oppenberg. This impressive family heirloom produces about 90.000 bottles a year with traditional types of German grapes, such as Riesling and Silvaner, as well as Burgundy grapes.
