Champagne Vazart-Coquart

Close to Epernay and on the egde of the Chardonnay dominated Côte des Blancs, Vazart-Coquart & Fils has Grand Cru holdings in the village of Chouilly. They have 11 ha vineyards and their grapes are distributed in 95% Chardonnay and 5% Pinot Noir. Vazart-Coquart & Fils is a Special Club producer and member of the Vignerons Indépendants. Annual production is 80.000 bottles. Their Special Club is a 100% Chardonnay and The current vintage is 2008. To be released vintages are 2009, 2010, and 2012.

We had the pleasure of visiting the house late may earlier this year.

Vazart-Coquart & Fils Cuvée Camille, Grand Cru NV
88 Almonds and red apple in the nose. Flavor was dry with apples, almonds and biscuit. 
2010 Vazart-Coquart Blanc De Blances Grand Bouquet Grand Cru Brut
89 Lemon and apples in the tight nose. Very dry flavor with with a nice lemon acid bite, hints of red apples and a lively mousse.
Vazart-Coquart & Fils Brut Reserve, Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs NV
90 Aroma had hints of lemon and apples. Fruity flavor with hints of peach and nectarine. Dry finish and fine mousse. 
2008 Vazart-Coquart & Fils Special Club Vintage
92 Tight nose with notes of fresh apples and lemon. Flavor was bone dry with chalky aspects, lemon and a good mousse. Lively and vibrant.
